So I was up at the asscrack of dawn precisely 5:15 am at the work desk getting this las barbarian done each of them has diff degrees of weathering but all have the same vomponents used and each model was glazed with 4coats of agrax earthshade to give all the palettes of colors a dark and gritty look I'm a big fan of glazing entire models and depending on what I'm working on I use all colors of the spectrum throughout my career! These Lil guys were screaming agrax earthshade it's actually a tip I got from a John Blanche article on how to get a dark but neat look without blackening the overall paintjob. I do use recipes anymore unless it bailys03 I'm more adept at color theory sing meg maples class moons ago so I do things on the fly its a great feeling to look at the box cover art and be able to mix paint until I get the target color. Again the book by Betty Edwards entitled color theory is the bible for miniature painting so go pick it up!!stay tuned folks next up the leather wrappings in the pants. That's going to be a headaches.

Honestly

I got these last week and was worried I wouldn't finish em in time imagine that shit me worried if I spend 8hrs a day normally 3days I could pop em out in. And thank you epic I'm so glad you like em your a pro now so that means alot.golden

Amazing bro, one thing I am not sure and it's been attracting my eye often, the blue dress... I am always asking myself if it's not to pale, he's got white over, i feel it's to striking from the other guys. I don't know like you know me bro I am no tech I am a painter and human I just tell what's bothering me.

N no problem ter I simply wanted all of em to look different and truth is there really not from the same tribe but all are barbarians so just went with the box art cause I simply do not know much about Britons and ce,ts and anything else fo that matter...the only color that really joins em is the khaki and even that is slightly diff among other things that joins them is the blood and gore dirt and grime so in a way I Def wanted em to look different but be shared by subtlties.

Alright bro you got it covered. I will have some update on the Peg later, I worked hard today to finish as much as I can before the week starts again and work, I will need cc's on the red glowing eyes I am painting right now.

I'm looking forward to seeing your peg Ter, its gonna be an awesome piece of art.

John, I rather the like the unique colour pallet about them, it gives each figure its own personality, the science of colour can't always be followed when painting something realistic and John and I's tastes are very similar.. the dude in the blues isn't gonna wake up in the morning and think.. I can't where blue it will colour clash with my armor, even though it does draw the eye. One thing it might be worth doing, is keep the blue I like it, but mute it a little to inline with the rest of the pallet, your call John its great either way PAINT FOR YOURSELF MAN, STICK THAT FLAG IN THE GROUND AND CALL YOUR SELF A KING MY FRIEND.

Thanks epic exactly what I was thinking....this has been my most ambitious project to date aside the 13 inch abadon...I really am excited to see the judges reaction to the weathering ....baily hit the nail on the head and drove it str8 thru with the barbarian idea...probably finish it up tomorrow than base it see what needs read dressing than wait for these lovely display plinth my dear friend and modellers is making for me. Than pack stay and crank em away until the big day....I have quite a lovely bunch of pieces going hopefully they come back in one piece as well.

Okay let it be known I consider myself an exceptional painter and a fairly good practitioner of color theory but ter and epic were both right the blue needed to be hacked a bit nothing a few glazes of agrax earthshade can't remedy so I did and I'm much happier still keeping there individuality and also giving uniformity to all of them as dark and gritty I loved the blue but I gotta say the minute ter said it jumped out it did to me also and def wouldn't want a judge saying the same so thank you both epic and ter let it be known any advice given ill 1)consider it and if in agreement ill take it and then execute the remedy in this case toning down the blue. Thanks for being my eyes the both of you your golden!

thats amazing, i get a fiarly good rate of the local shop owner and hes letting me step my own figures in his display cabs with business cards.. if some one wants some commision work done, I get the models off owner so we both get paid lol... Hope into my wip. I'll think u'll be pleased but I need some ideas thrown my way :)
