Am I to late to weigh in on the competition and winning vs not? Of course I am not, so listen to my lunatic views anyways :p I think we are all hard wired to be competitive. We all have that primal urge to stand above all others and be victorious, its what you do/how you handle defeat that separates you from the rest.
Also Bam, I shall cry for you should your vikings not place, kind of like your shield bearer when you go to battle only I will spill my tears so you do not have to.

Ha, so you're the one who got the latorre piece! I saw it on ebay and almost bid on it too. Glad I didn't now that I know it ended up with you.

The viking one is another great piece. Should fit in really well with the rest of the group.

Oooh e-bay sniping pays off! The Viking from la torre looks very nice and I think he'll fit in with your band really well. Any particular reason that you're going with the sword rather than the spear? It may just be the paintjobs of the two pictures, but I kind of like the spear one slightly more. So what's going to be the third model to round out the group of five? (Or did I miss something...)

TThanks arch and boguz the reason I go with the shorter weapon is to plan ahead for the lengthy trip to Chicago I can get better chances of having nothing pop or break off while traveling with my packed goods...I always say the hardest thing for me to go through isn't the judging ,it's the traveling and arriving w/o something getting g
Destroted.so I go with rarely any polearms...:)) as for the rounding out the third and final model,well it's a toss up but they are both really amazing sculots..and at this point a secret.shhh.....don't tell any weapon !!!

Once more the wisdom of BAM shines through! :worship:

I hadn't considered travelling. I have a heart attack every time I take one of my minis to YetiSA's for photographing or the occasional painting session. And that's only about 23km (roughly 14mi) away by car! How on earth do you pack your preciouses for long trips to comps?! I assume large amounts of foam are involved.

I can't speak for Blood, but I drill and tap holes in all of my wood bases so the figures can be screwed into a board to secure them for transport. Magnets and bluetac are other options, but I feel this is more secure. For flying, I recommend checking out tablewars cases. They're a bit expensive, but the quality is there. Their mini case is even designed to fit under the seat.

@Bailey - Another wise person. I'm surrounded! :worship::p

I'm a long way from even considering taking anything to a competition (we don't really have anything here in SA apart from informal things at local cons - which take up a small hall with approximately 27 small stalls and that's about it). But it's good information to have. Thanks Bailey. :)

First off yess all the same room I figure we could deal with it this way !!!we get in we get crammed we knock down the wall!!! Repeat until the whole cmon society is comfy. Yes baily def knows how to transport the models I still don't understand how but you have to have a degree in engineering to do what he did!! Lol you have to see it to understand how effective it is. Ter is that you I didn't know who the ANTMAN avatar was until I read the name! Lol

Now keep in mind that the piece is a unit so it's viewed as a whole so when the I get those pieces from the ""corpse cart" and I adorn each base with one or more bodies skewered with pikes think of the impact!!!! IT'S MAD I TELL YOU MAD!!!

Do not be alarmed by the avatar change - it's still the same, slightly mad Shelagh. :)

That unit looks absolutely fabulous BAM - paint job and basing both have me in awe. :worship: I'm guessing that the idea is "less is more" with regards to the bodies and bits adorning spikes.
