Sionid's Clean Your Plate WIP Thread

I mean just the eye slits. If you look at the box art they are green. Slap some bright green paint in there and see if it doesn't pull it together. Are you going for normal flesh tones on the Ogre or red skin? There aren't enough red orcs painted!

So they are! Man, I didn't even see 'em on the mini. That'll be the next step, thank you!

I avoided green because I wanted to maintain ogre-ness over orc-ness (though she'd make an excellent orc, eh?), and I want to practice scarring on her. I'm honestly not sure if I like where it's going now, though, with the red-purple tones. Might need to get a better picture in my head of what I want to end up with.

Like I said I'll stop by periodically and if there is nothing to critique I'll say very good work...... VERY GOOD WORK..I too will be going to crystal brush..it should be a blast sis.

Will be nice too see where you take that last mini, very different to have a female version not that common I believe. Looking forward too see the next step.

Thanks BaS! I'm really excited, if nothing else I'll get to see the ins and outs of another competition and some incredibly cool minis.

Kretcher, that's a huge part of why I was drawn to the mini. I love orcs and ogres, especially when they're portrayed as a culture rather than The Badguy Race. I think variety in form--gender, shapes, whatever--is important in communicating that.

For a completely different project, I was antsy tonight and started on the archivist's base. I got to make tiny books!

Because I used paper I sealed it first, then spraypainted, then brushed on a layer of black for a smoother finish. Hopefully that'll keep things from getting too soggy when the colors go on.

Okay, calmed it down to a more satin finish. That last pic keeps bugging me.

I like where it's going but I think it's lacking interest. Suggestions are, as always, welcome.

if u want book pages with a little more life, i saw someone cut up a coke can into small squares and use them as pages, you can bend them slightly and they realy give that third dimension!

Would look good atop of ur flat pages, cost is a mere 60 pence, and u get a free drink of ur chice :go-away:

Hope this helps, J.

I think the book base looks fantastic. Interesting but not too busy. Perfect for the Sexy Death Librarian. If you have a silicon mold making kit this would be a great one to make a mold out of so you can cast it again later. And maybe send me one :)

OffTheSprue, now I'm mad that I'm at work because I want to go home and try that! Adding some fluttering pages would be great with her swishy cloak. And I drink so much gorram soda that supplies are not a problem, heh.

Demi, thanks :D I'm unfortunately lacking a mold-making kit, but 98% of the base is Secret Weapon's work. The books were pretty simple, too, just balsa wood and cut up bits of junkmail. Probably junkmail. Hopefully junkmail...

you should do that scene out of the Twilight Zone,.. the one where the guy is the last person on earth, and finally has time to read his beloved books,.. but just broke his glasses,..

LMAO, junk mail. I love what you did here Sion. I am so sad that you can't do what Demi suggested, but I might steal you idea and do it myself :p

Thanks all. It would be fitting for that Time Enough episode, wouldn't it? Sadly, I am not the person for the job--Sexy Death Librarian's glasses are sculpted onto her face, and there ain't no way I'm making with the scrapey on those tiny things.

Digga, do it! Do it and post it! Do it for the sake of TINY ADORABLE BOOKS!

DR, may have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one. :)

Hmmm...well...hmmm, with a mighty chant like that how can I say no. Hmmm brainstorming now. So Sion hows about this....just a thought you make me some of those tiny books you are so good at doing, and some of those fancy sheets of paper and shoot them in the mail to me. I will create a base simular to what you got shown above and make a cast of it and send one off to you and demi. No worries if you can't do it at the moment, just brainstorming is all.

Sure! It probably won't be for at least a few days, but pm me where to ship them and I'll send some your way.

Alright, this isn't something that I made, and it isn't a miniature, but it's REALLY FLAPJACKING COOL AND PRETTY AND AHHH.

Got an early birthday present tonight from the Future Mr. Sionid!

He provided the specifications and his papa built it.

We're thinking of putting a bit of metal in the bottom so minis can be magnetized to better secure 'em in place.

So yeah, I'll just be over here in the corner, making incoherent noises at how thoughtful and lovely and amazing this is. Probably until the end of time.

Ha, awesome present and happy early birthday. You should have him make more and sell them on ebay because those are pretty dang snazzy.
