Scout looks good, really smooth graduations. Are you planning on weathering? To my mind these models are crying out for it.
Great understated base, way to go.

I think the lenses on both the rifle and the goggles could do with darkening imo, but that\'s just personal taste - they\'re well done :)

Thanks for the comments guys, ive added a little dirt here and there and will try and get some new pics soon.
Painting will be halted for a while as around half of my vallejo paint is unusable so im waiting for afew things on ebay to sell before i can buy some new ones. In this time ill continue to assemble and try and get all the bases finished for the army.

Thought it was about time i posted an update.
Firstly i have played around with the pics of the scout, i got it basically as it is irl.
I noticed a few parts that are a little messy so im going to go back and clean them up, apart from that this guy is finished :)

:Edit: Voting Link for anyone interested :)

I have also started work on the inside of the tank and finishing off the bases for the army, i should have pics of these tomorrow.

Hey again,
Well here is a WiP pic of the part of the tank i am working on at the moment.

Tank003.jpg

Mainly just base colours and a little highlighting/shading.
Seeing as its the inside and no one will really be looking in there i thought i would practice a bit of OSL and freehand(to come).
I think it turned out pretty well, although it still needs a final few highlights here and there.

Comments welcome,
SirJD

I think the OSL on that panel looks great, I would just add a lot more shading into the crevises....around the light source.

Just had a crazy idea and thought i would post it in this thread as it will become a WiP.
Seeing as the family is LOTR nuts, my mum especially, i thought of painting up a 54mm scale aragorn(Her favourite character) as a birthday present for later on in the year.
The miniature i am thinking of is Andrea Miniatures \"Untamed\" which bears an uncanny resemblence to said character http://www.andrea-miniatures.com/market/AspsProductos/Detalle.asp?IdProductoDetalle=1101
The only problem is getting one! I cannot find anyone in Australia selling one, and i do not have credit card access meaning overseas purchase would have to be through paypal, does anyone know of anywhere that stocks it?

Thanks,
SirJD

Hey everyone,
Sorry for the lack of updates lately, that weird thing called life has been keeping me busy lately!
Onto the updates,
I have assembled and started painting a ravenwing bike and biker, so far only the base and front wings/back feathers are complete.
I have also completed the 4 scouts bases and started putting the base colours on 2 devestators.

looks good
two thngs
1 whats with the da shoulder pad on the bike base

Thanks for that COG, Hopeguly i can answer some of your questions.
1:The DA sholder pad is on the base as im basing this army around the idea of being reinforcements that have been \"drop-podded\" in to help their comrads which are already in battle, meaning there would be parts of dead marines here and there(Hope this makes sense)
2:It would be great to know what you think looks weird about the white, as you said it may be that it is a bit messy around the edges.

Hope this answers your questions,
SirJD

there isn\'t very much to comment here, but I have one tip for you...

start practicing on your reds, IMO they look quite flat. I suggest you start with a dark base colour and highlight up to a quite bright tone. you have too little contrast in your work.

the white on the bikes look really good btw! keep it up :)

Thanks for the comments guys,
If its the red on the devestators/tank your reffering to, those have only been base coated once or twice so no shading/highlighting has gone into them yet.
If its the scout your reffering to i have re-worked the red a bit and added more highlights and re-submitted him to cmon,(Check my sig).

Thanks again for the comments and i will try to implement them into my work,
SirJD

sorry i was not complete on my thoughts ???
what i meant is that the white by itself looks a little out of place.
im sure this will not be the case when completed. sorry bout that.
i think the red is nice if not a bit bright(refering to the scout) the rest will look great (chainsword and panel) quite the army youll have.
tabletop at my gamestore is primer or no paint at all lol

No worries COG, its probably the fact its not complete yet that makes it look a little strange.
Well there wont be too many updates over the next little period as i have started work on my GD entries, although i should have the odd update now and then as a break.

Hey everyone,
Well, im performing a bit of threadomancy on this and getting it back up and running.
Over the past few months ive been busy with GD projects and commission work so not much progress with the DA\'s.
Im still working on my GD stuff but im working on these guys inbetween. I have decided to go with a more dirty and rusty look for my DA\'s over the clean look that i used on the scout.
Here are afew WIP pics of the Devestator Sargaent

They arn\'t great as the weather\'s terrible at the moment buy they give the idea. There arn\'t any parts fully complete yet but i would love some comments and constructive critique.
