*cough cough* Look left here. :D Actually, I suppose that many places could lay claim to him, he just happened to be born in Bloemfontein.

So, the two best things about the UK, from my perspective. Now, don\'t laugh...
- a culture that\'s based on mutual consideration, not underlying greed
- national pride, not blind patriotism

But that British open-door policy, it\'s more harm than good now. Why, England alone has twice the population of South Africa, in a lot less space.

Humm. Well...

1) The UK is not the rest of Europe (This tends to offend a lot of brits but y\'all have more in common with North Americans than with the rest of European population, doesn\'t hurt that most Canadians and 2nd most Americans are UK descent).
2) My dad (RIP) was born there.
3) Great bastion of freemasonry.
4) Y\'all are pretty close to the water no mater where you live.

I can think of a lot of good things in Britain. We have brought a lot of good things into the world. But also quite a lot of crap things.

Indeed! We have Bill Bailey! (I knew there was a spark there somewhere!)
As for living close to the water, the ocean is apox 20-25 ft in front of my house! lol
I think Britain used to be a far greater nation than it is now. I want to be Prime Minister so I can fix this whole shitty mess!...Capital and corperal punishment would be the first law ammendment! Break the law on MY watch will you?! Grrrr

The countryside is marvellous and I\'ve got hills just up the road and mountains not much further up the road. I\'ve got the coast from here to West Wales in easy reach and I\'ve got pubs falling out my arse. That\'s a brilliant thing. I also carry a sense of identity inbuilt because of my connection to the place I live. That\'s all top stuff. However, I\'m fed up of being told we\'ve never had it better when the government and energy providers are eking ever more cash out of us. In the last 10 years properties have gone from eminently affordable to ridiculously expensive. Money talks, not good old fashioned values.

I think I\'m going to head for the countryside permanently before long, only the prices there are even worse as the rich move there with their multiple homes and 4 or 5 cars for a family of 3.

Ales, proper grub, invention, wit, honesty, standing up for folks who are unfairly targetted...these are good things we do in the most part, but the constant homogenisation by market forces is crippling our understanding of what the world is about and what we are. It\'s all grab, grab, grab, now, now, now.

Look at football now. How can it ever be called the working class game again? Players earning £120,000 per week and some other tosser mouthing off that he was disgusted not to received a £5,000 pay rise from £55k to £60k per week and demanding a transfer! It\'s all about bling, money, status, everything that\'ll do feck all in the happiness stakes.

Yeah, I live quite near banockburn where my forefathers helped give the english a sound kicking. I always have a wash of nostalgia and pride when i\'m there ;)
I dispise warm beer! My cousins drink it, if it has to be warm i\'d rather drink my own urine! (At least I have an incling of whats in it also!).
I do quite like cucumber sandwiches...mmmm:drool: And apart from the aresholes (wouldn\'t be a functioning society without aresholes), I like the friendlyness of our little country!
Nothing better than going out to a pub and getting lashed with a complete stranger an having a good laugh. If they have breasts, BONUS!
Yeah...Iv\'e decided Britains not all bad. but the goverment has to extract the digit and do something about the greed induced mania...Oh wait, they ARE the aforementioned greed induced heathens
I want to get famous so I can take on Tony Blair in one of those celebrety boxing matches. \"And this ones for the children you bollocksd up!\". Yeah! Violence doesn\'t solve anything buy the way... I just felt obliged to say that...

And don\'t even get me started on imigration...We take in any and everything whilst other countries keep their OPEN BOARDERS closed to new EU States/Countries.

I\'m not quite up on the issues, but what are the bad effects of letting lots of legal immigrants in? Plus we don\'t let everyone in, we have quite a strict policy on that.

we have a great sense of humour. despite it\'s failings, one of the best health services in the world. one of the highest standards of living in the world. while you may consider page 3 to be a bad thing, bear in mind that there are good papers out there. at least we have that freedom of choice (tits or news). we have some beautiful scenery. i still love the bbc - great sports coverage and no adverts. good, honest, no frills grub.

i am proud to be english and british
