Coming on leaps and bounds Kyle.Hope Doddsy\'s not pushing too hard.:D

Paint the Hoobit with no osl and photo it for posting. Then paint on the osl,if you mess up then you have the old pics to fall back on.
And I agree with Josh, keep it subtle.

Yeah, what Joshua said, also Chrispy is doing an OSL article where you use orangy brown instead of red, sounds interesting.

I\'d really like to do some source lighting on it, but don\'t want to spoil the model. Any tips?

Yeah, practice on a different model first :D

WIP concept.... this is just a concept done on paint for the way im gonna repaint my tau... the rifle colour payonet and back back colours will all be different.. the plan for armour is cadian green blended to rotting flesh.. pants prolly more of a beige (spelling?) im thinking grave-earth... comments on gun and baoyonet colour would b very apreciated... im thinking doing the pack in a camo colour if you got a different scheme im all ears cause ether they get painted with a new scheme or thrown out..... more then likely thrown out  as of why well because yeh... aint no 1 gonna buy em.... and well if i cant make em look good why keep em? unless you have a sedgestion... so basicly what im saying is.. HELP ME FIND A SCHEME PLEASe! :(

Alrighty, got to work on another one and I\'m mostly done with it but I figured I would toss it up here and get some ideas on this.

Now the picture you see shows it having a red sword grip ... well, that\'s because I was doing something else with the sword entirely and it just doesn\'t work for me - so that\'s being repainted tomorrow - likely black unless I can come up with anything more original.

Need to do somre more highlights to the black chain and something with his hair (how the hell do you highlight black hair withought making them look old?)

Firsts for me are the cork base, eyes (believeit or not he has pupils!), an attempt at NMM (put too much blue into the armor initially but I ran with it, wanted more of a grey, silver but I\'ll do that on the next one) and then the \'freehand\' on the sword, if you can really call it that. I suck at drawing anything artistically and the sword design was as close as I got with it so far.

Opinions and suggestions welcome.

i\'m going to paint a Saint Celestine figure of the witch hunters army but, i can\'t choose a colour scheme, i was think turquoise and blue and have purple wings...which i will put on with green stuff on my own time. lol

and to frustrated father, the sword, well i think the sword doesn\'t stand out enough, it came out great but, i prefer swords to stand out, so my figures with swords usually have the sword in a completely contrasting colour to the actual main colour of the miniature. just my opinion though. but, the figure as a total came out great...hmm...is it me or does the sword have a tinge of purple to it? ??????

FF - looks good, but I think your armor and cloak run together being the same color. Maybe a slightly different shade to one or the other to differentiate a bit?

Yeah, originally the cloak was a cream color and it just didn\'t work for me so then I tried to darken it up and then I just said to hell with it and did a blue wash over it and then some highlights. Perhaps I should do a darker, more royal blue?

Oy! That\'ll be fun considering the bugger is based.

FF: you might want to try a grey for the cloak. Sometimes a more neutral color is just what you need (learned that from Dragonsreach :)

CtanSupportGroup: Kyle I really wish now, that I hadn\'t got that figure for you. :D She\'s really looking good, I think Steve Buddle will be pleased with the work you\'ve done on her.
As for the Hobbit.....:wow:

Klute: I\'ve got to admit that Kyle is one of the Best painters around Bolton that I\'ve seen. Ok he\'s young and only been painting a couple of years but look at what he\'s doing!. Plus he\'s not an obnoxious Spoilt Brat or self opinionated.
OK, so his work on here isn\'t getting the attention it deserves, but trust me this lad is Golden Deamon quality work. He got a finalist in 2004 UK, took me nearly 10 years of entries to get one of them.

Between him and Tammy always pushing the envelope, it\'s no wonder I\'m going Grey. ;):Dlol

@ Wolf Fang

Thats a really cool scheme, love it. Black might actually work pretty well for the guns, otherwise do them same colour as armour with black or silver details.

@ FF looking good. Suggestion for the sword, make it more tranistiony. By that I mean make the majority of it a mid grey, but then add in some very quick tranistions to almost black in the recesses and up to white for the glints. Lok at Rituals Sethin for an idea of what I\'m talking about.

@ FF: Looking good, but I think that the miniature looks too cold. Maybe some warm colors will help with this. As a suggestion, you could probably paint the cloak with a purple-blue.

Thank you for your kind words and advice Joshua, Klute and Mike. Unfortunately I can\'t paint as much due to school, but I\'m doing all that I can.:)

OK so back on topic, I have primed good old Mr Frodo, but felt that he was lacking in something.

Earlier I had tried to sculpt a hat on his head, but felt that it was too big, so in his other hand, now, I have sculpted a hat complete with feather. Sheriff of the Shire lol.

Anyway, I think I wil try the source lighting on another model. There\'s a chance that I wont even need to do it seing as the model is so small...

Thanks again.:D

I worked some more on my Duke von Castellan for my Duel entry for the Golden Demon this year. It\'s coming a long nicely, my best painted miniature so for. I hope I can get some real pics of him, instead of these scan they really don\'t do justice to the mini.

I\'ve always wanted to participate in this thread, but I never had any good WIP shots :(

but now I want to show you my version of Daniera Madise, the Iron Kingdoms RPG Cleric :)

I\'m not really 100% happy with the NMM armour, because it turned out too dark IMO...

@Corvus
The face and hair is excellent! I see what you mean with the armour, though. Maybe some quite sharp white highlights would help give it more shine?

Nice job corvus on the face and hair, but i think the armor could have some more contrast and i think the robes are a bit weird, the shadows are so vibrant but the basecolor a bit greyish.

I\'ve done a fair bit of work these days, spent quite a time on this archaon and been painting Reinholdt from warmachine the last 2 days.
