This is taking me far longer than I expected it to, I knew there was a reason I don\'t often paint space marines.

No problems,

Skin,

Basecoat Dwarf Flesh
Shade Dwarf Flesh/ Dark Flesh varying mixes.
Highlight back up with Dwarf Flesh through to Elf Flesh
Then glaze with Imperial Purple heavily watered down unde he cheekbones

Grey Armour

Codex Grey
Shade with Codex Grey with a little black
Highlight Codex Grey uo to Fortress Grey with a little white for uppermost Highlights

Gold

Snakebite Leather
then highlight up with Leprous Brown
Leprous Brown/Golden Yellow to pure Golden Yellow and then add white to get a lemony white for the highest highlights.
place Scorched brown to give deep shadows like under the eyes and in the mouth.

How\'s that.

DD put your dragon on a bse and give it some highlights (if it has some it needs more) The other dood needs more highlighting and shading.

Here\'s a WIP shot of my first-ever Warmachine figure:

The metallics are essentially a basecoat, but I\'d appreciate comments and suggestions on everything else!

@tidoco- That guy is looking fantastic. I really like the armor.

@Tinweasel- I a anxious to see the end result.

@Everybody- Here\'s my latest WIP shot. Painted this one for a miniature exchange recently. Unfortunately, just today (after taking the photo) he had a minor encounter with my white paint... and as an end result he is spotted white now. Which, needless to say did not make me very happy.

EPStudios, that banner is fantastic and the Imperial Eagle on it is awesome.

Afro-Carribean/American) skin is one of the hardest things to carry off accuratly in a mini. Unfortunaly trying to copy the style of highlighting for Caucasian skin sometimes makes the face look like a pastiche.
Plus a lot of companies seem to only sculpt European style faces. (Had this discussion with Gary Morely a few years ago).
If you go into the articles, Chrispy did a great one on \"Ethinical skin tones\" which might help.
Other than this I\'d suggest looking up photos of actors like Sidney Poitier, Michael Duncan Clarke, Morgan Freeman, Denziel Washington, Laurence Fishburn and study how the highlights and skin tones vary.

Like him lots but feel the plain base doesn\'t do him justice.

You could paint the flat rock he is on like the floor of some ruined building. perhaps as marble or with the remnants of a mural on the surface. Also a couple of tufts of grass and some patches of (thinned) green ink to represent algae or a bit of brown for built up dirt.

green stuff

Snow could work well and recall the Tyranid attack on the Ultramarine planet. You could then add small drops of purple blood to add to the atmosphere.

As a side note, I\'m having a hard time with the white areas. I find them a bit bland. Couldn\'t you add some shading and a bit of texture (cracks, notches, ...) to liven it up a bit?

Well some Static Grass, Foilage Clumps and Long Grass always makes a nice natural base :) Snow is also a possibilty as mentioned above. I don\'t know if there room for it in the rock he\'s standing on, but I always like a Aquila freehand on a rocky base.

Marneus is looking very nice indeed and should do well on e-bay. I have done a little more to this space marine from ME#7 and here is how is is at the moment.
