Xbox 360 sucks!!!!

I agree!

It goes deeper than that however...

Take a disc..any disc....put it into the XBox 360 and it sounds like it is being played next door.....Muffled, quiet, crap basically:duh:

Lol!

Sounds as though it plays music worse than my mates CD player that got peanut butter sarnied by his kid!

I was on the verge of parting with my cash as well until I read this thread.....;)

Save your dosh...

Somewhere, hidden amongst all the f*ckups is a good idea. The current incarnation however, is very weak. FFS the power supply is much bigger and heavier than my PS2....whatever were they thinking? The noise wont bother you as long as you like to play wargames at full volume...this should drown out the noise produced by the fan. :D

Are you playing on mute? I\'ve never really noticed the sound of the motors once I actually get into the game. Only time I notice is when it\'s on pause or something.

I have a 360, and it\'s getting a ton of use. And I only have one game right now (Call of Duty 2)... but that\'s simply due to the fact that I\'m not working and thus have like $2 to my name until my summer job starts.

The graphics are hot. If you have HD widescreen it\'s really a thing of beauty. I\'ve never had a technical problem, I think there\'s a few really good games on the market, the HD is fine for what I need it to do, I love the controller way more than the PS2 style ones (although I do wish they kept the black and white buttons, 2 more would be handy in some setups)... PS2 has some good games for sure but it\'s been around for a very long time. And generally I think Xbox has had a lot more exclusive games that I\'ve been interested in whereas I don\'t give a rat\'s ass about the FF series.

The only real complaint I have is that there\'s no MechWarrior game done for the 360 yet.

Call of duty is a good game..

But it\'s £20 cheaper on the PS2 and £30 cheaper on the PC. And having played both PS2 and Xbox I can state that there is no noticeable difference.

Well in the end it seems to come down to the fact that in the UK some things are ridiculously expensive compared to the rest of the world.

Over here, not many games cost the equivalent of £30 total... that\'s what like $70 CDN these days? Most games are closer to $60 for any platform. The only ones that seem to cost more are the ones that come with crazy controllers (ie. Guitar Hero).

I just bought one (it was released here last week). Here\'s what I think about it.

1) The fan is frickin loud, although I can\'t hear it when playing Ghost Recon or watching a DVD, it is excessively loud.

2) I bought it as much to stream MP3s and watch DVDs as play games. I\'ve just moved house so can\'t comment on the music yet, but it is hooked up to my 5.1 speakers via a SB extigy and optical cable and works fine. Plays CDs ok as well, but I agree it does seem quieter than my old setup.

3) Ghost recon was a surprise, I usually suck at those games, but I\'m having quite a bit of fun with this, although I am stuck at the moment.

4) The games are too expensive for me. But then I\'m a bargain basement PC gamer, so I expect my games to cost $25 or less, not up to $120.

5) Haven\'t checked out Live yet (due to no internet coz of moving house), but I expect I\'ll be playing more downloaded games than shop bought ones.

6) I like the controller, I\'ve not had any sore finger or thumb issues, but it seems that its not responding very well, especially the cross shaped button. I can\'t seem to reliably get it to accept the direction I\'m trying to push. Be interested to know if this is a common problem or if my unit may be faulty.

So far, I happy enough, if it streams my MP3s ok, then I\'ll definitely stick with it. My last console was a megadrive and I have to say I think I\'m really a PC gamer.

I now have a hankering for a HD TV... curses...

I play mine on an HD projector (95 inch screen) in my basement, with surround sound, so I may be getting a more optimal entertainment experience than some :)

I\'m super happy with it. Xbox live is awesome, live arcade is cool as is the marketplace.

My friend and I have clocked hundreds of games of DOA 4. I finished Ghost Recon the other night. I regularly play Fight Night Round 3 over Xbox Live with zero lag.

The wireless controller lasts a long time on normal batteries and is very comfortable.

Also finished COD2 on it, and now I\'m playing Oblivion, which also kicks major arse.

Great system imo.

I still will play some games on PC, but much prefer lately to kick back in my comfy recliner and play with huge sound and picture with a wireless controller.

Oblivion!

Did they call it that because you fall asleep waiting for it to load?

The game might be good, but the loading times are ridiculous...3 - 7 minutes regularly.

It\'s great to watch the grass in the landscape gently blowing in the wind, but not when you have to stop every few minutes to wait for an area to load.

Is my game faulty???

The area loads do take time- not as much as you seem to be getting though.

My bugbear is that the game keeps crashing - more a case of irritation rather than oblivion!

Maybe it is the incredible level of detail that is the cause of the problems.

I\'ve racked up about 96 hrs on the game clock so far and that doesn\'t take into account the frequent reloads due to the crashes!!and I\'ve hardly touched the main quest.

Spent most of the time collecting flowers - want to get my boy scout nature badge:D

I have discovered the problem with buying games on the internet (Amazon in this case) - if there is a problem you have to weigh up whether to send the damn thing back - and miss playing - or bite the bullet and put up with the crashes:(

Catch 22.

Hmmmm...

I haven\'t had a \'crash\' at least I don\'t think I have had???

It does keep locking up however, whilst it \'thinks\'...if I kept mashing keys at this point however I suspect it would crash.

At the moment I am experiencing a loading to gameplay ratio of about 60% / 40%.

I have tried the ploy of keeping button A pressed whilst re-booting without any effect. I am probably too impatient, but this makes the game unplayable for me and it is either going back to Amazon or punted off to eBAy and I\'ll swallow the loss.

Hi Finn

I get three different probs-

1. As with you it \"thinks\" about updating - door opening, talking to someone etc but it never stops \"thinking\" ie it just freezes and has to be rebooted
2. I get the \"disk unreadable\" message and have to reboot.
3. It just freezes for no reason - either starts again on its own or - you know whats next:flame:

The games that came with the 360 work fine - just Oblivion is a pain!

Edit - just reread your post - perhaps I\'m not patient enough - no way I can sit and wait seven minutes for something to happen!

Friends of mine are also having this problem with oblivion. Sounds like a game fault rather than the platform itself.

My Oblivion works fine. Loading times are short. The only thing that has ever happened to me is it froze while loading a few times. I think there is something wrong with yours Fin. 60/40 is ridiculous.
