\"Can I ask you a question?\"
You just did brainiac.

\"Maybe you know the answer..\"
The answer is \"No\". Be careful how you phrase the question....

Rewind there a bit: nicer, yes; inaccurate, not necessarily - a mild or inoffensive term used in place of one considered offensive or unpleasantly direct.

With regard to usage, these days the nicer part is even open to question given the rise in deliberately-unpleasant terms/phrases in certain circles.

Yeah, I hate that too when it\'s followed by something that they know full well wouldn\'t fly without that (not that it always is).

...

I want everyone to give 110% / I\'m giving 110% or any variation. Yeah, it was cute for a while but it got old, real fast.

One of the things that just generally annoys me in recent years is the move toward the use of superlatives and emphasis nearly all the time - sorry Americans, one of the things you have to take the blame for - to add unnecessary weight. It gets to the stage that if you say something in a straight, no-nonsense way it sounds weak or even unpersuasive, when it is the superlative-laden stuff that should sound wrong, retaining an air of hyperbole, exaggeration or self-aggrandising.
To illustrate what I mean, I used it above and you didn\'t even notice! ;) :D

My daughter always starts to tell me something by saying

\"Guess what?\"

So i just start guessing.

After about the 6-7 insane guess, she just caves in and tells me....

When people post on forums like cheezburgercat, that bugs the hell out me. I mean, sure the images are funny and it\'s cute when your girlfriend does it in person, but damn annoying to read all the time.

\"I can has your handz off mah necks nao? ur hurtin mez, oh god oh god let go please I\'m serious you\'re really starting to choke me.... gggrrrggghhhh....\"
Oh... hahaha, you would hate me. My GF and I often find ourselves using l0lcat-ese in regular conversation, for dramatic/humorous effect. Her less so... but she still does it.

Haha yeah my gf does it as well. We have 4 cats and a pretty big obsession with them around here. On my birthday I was given a box of \"Herding Cats\" wine, since that\'s pretty much my unofficial job, Cat Herder lol

Hey, now! That whole era was a corporate middle-upper-management, smoke-up-your-butt, politically correct, make-me-sound-important, B.S. phenomenon. You can\'t pin that on the intelligent people (however few they are) or the whole country. I wasn\'t the tw*t that came up with that \"think outside the box\" crap!

Actually... \"I could care less\" is a shortening of \"I couldn\'t care less\", meaning there\'s no possible way I could care any less than I already do...so not only is \"I could care less\" a stupid, annoying phrase, the person using it is screwing it up because they are too lazy to tack the \"\'nt\" on the end of could.

\"Really now?\" No sh*t sherlock, i was just kidding.
\"I\'m not one to brag but...\" But you do like to brag, and toot your own horn, etc etc
\"You know, you could die from *insert activity or action here* \" I could also die from fires, explosions, earthquakes, terrorists, tsunamis, mauled by tigers, eaten by sharks, livers destroyed by alcohol, die of sleep deprivation, car crashes, not wearing helmet, shootings, robberies, falling out of windows, unleashing herds of furious kittens, bleated to death by sheep, eaten by cannibals, freezing to death, over heating, destroyed by black holes, having heart attacks, getting electrocuted, drowning, dying of A.I.D\'s, contracting Ebola, committing suicide <----- major \"duh\", bleeding to death, nuclear explosions, poisoning, starvation, assassins, getting thrown off cliffs, spontaneous self combustion, falling out of planes, bookshelves falling on me, mauled by tigers, sucked into a tornado, death by food poisoning, falling into a man hole, boxing,m kick boxing, playing football, pillow fight gone wrong, accidental smothering, the common cold, the flu, biting their tongue off and bleeding in their sleep, choking on people\'s throw up, horrific gardening accidents, eaten by rats, ETC. ETC. ETC. I mean seriously, there are tons more ways to die that could happen than whatever said activity was, and probably have happened to people doing much safer or calmer things than said activity. :cussing::cussing::cussing:

People who add \"no offense\" to something they clearly know is offensive because they\'re under the impression that it will negate all bad feelings caused by their rudeness. No offense!

\"There is no I in team\"

\"Yeah, but there is a ME!\"

That\'s the way that exchange plays out 99 times out of 100 around my shop.

Not an expression but my boss has a big poster on his wall in his office that reads something like \"Nobody on their deathbed ever looked back and said \"I wish I had spent more time at the Office\" and another that says \"When I am old it won\'t matter how much money I have or how big my house is, but it will matter that I made a difference in the life of a child\" and yet ANOTHER that reads something like \"If you can\'t make your business work in 6 days, the seventh won\'t matter\" (We\'re one of the few business in the meat racket that closes on Sundays) and so on.

I was called into a meeting and asked to work longer hours. I refused as I already work 55-65/week. My boss told me he needed me, and that I\'d be paid extra. I said I\'d rather make what I make now and not get a divorce and see my kids every other weekend, which I will probably have to work anyway and besides, it doesn\'t matter how much I make, only that I make a difference in the life of my kids.

The meeting was very long and LOUD after that.

Short version.... No divorce yet but the extra money might come in handy if it happens!

Sorry ladies but this does seem to relate 95% of the time to girls - talking at hypersonic speeds. I\'m talking serious burst-transmissions. I simply cant tell what\'s being said. I can usually get the first word or two then it just turns into an audio blur.

Don\'t know if this is just a California/USA thing but while not being a saying, it is what is being SAID or more precisely how it\'s said that drives me knutz!!
