Zab's Damn it to hell! WIP

Oh man i am sorely tempted to do those winter camo ladies because you would register them at arms length at 28mm scale...NO! I have to be good, this is for charity...on the other hand...

Thanks for taking those risks for the rest of us BFK. Not sure I'd have the courage to do that (says the guy who used to be a sponsored skater and snowboarder). I actually had a recruiter from the Canadian armed forces tell me not to apply even though my mark were great, but I clearly had issues with authority and they didn't like all my tattoos o_O I was weirded out that they were so picky.

No need to offer thanks, it's a job that let's me do some pretty cool stuff. Believe it or not, the Soldiers that challenge authority as civilians are the best, because they can think on their own. On today's battlefield, small unit leaders are put into some pretty dynamic situations, where they are part diplomat, part contractor, part warrior, part hostage negotiator, part party planner, etc...we need people that don't just blindly follow the man in front of him. Discipline has it's place, but I reward by subordinates for free thinking and approaching problems with unique perspective, even if the results aren't optimal.

But I digress. Sorry, it seems I hijacked your WIP with my own stupid, self-congratulatory story. My original point was to comment on your WIP, and they look great. I can't wait to see the bases. When do you expect them to come in? And you are going to paint the fabric on them based upon the base?

Oh sure the armed forces are like that now, but this was almost 20 years ago before they figured that stuff out and they were a bit more...snooty? Not the right word, but you know what I mean - maybe conservative is more like it. I should be getting the bases next week and they are for sale now on the SW site under Omega bases. I think I'll have to paint the fabric and cloaks last so they work with the basing. That will be such a pain, but I want them to work well together so my hands are tied - and no, i'm not painting with my feet ;)

Oh cool, what is the charity?
You know if you did some high contrast pretty basic snow on dark rock bases you might have an opportunity to pull off some relatively easy chameleon cloaks just try to match the pattern of rock against snow and then blend up to a white cloak for the top 2/3 or so. Keep the mini unglued from the base so you can keep referencing what the base looks like through the cloak...

Uh, what was the deadline?
:)

That's a really cool idea! Deadline for returning them to NOVA for the raffle is Aug 1, but I need to be done a few weeks before that since the Agent of Chaos's B-Day is July 31. There are lot of raffles and such still going on and $1 gets you a ticket to win the an army...no pressure... :sinister:...

Mournfang brown - thinned layered on
XV -88 thinned - layered on less area
Argax earthshade - 2 undiluted layers, let each dry fully (shake well before using)

yeah very likely, just waiting on a SBS for the bases from Dave Taylor and then i'll know what the Camo and fabric will need to look like to work.

That's pretty cool. I have to hook up with these guys. They are local to me. The wife and I are actually talking about relocating to Santa Cruz, which i think is where this project originated.

My only regret is that I can't actually attend NOVA. Oh well, at least I can contribute :)

I second that, mosquitoes are a pest, yeah for the spiders... at least when we live so much north that we do. Not really any poisonous spiders around.
