=I= scale Death Company Space Marine

A big and complex conversion of the Artemis model from GW's Inquisitor range. Converted and painted for UKGD 2010 and took a finalist's badge in the Open Competition. I wanted to create a basic space marine in all its glory and death-dealing monstrosity. Space Marines are big. Superhumans. And I wanted to show this as well as making a sinister-looking model. I chose to do a Death Comapny marine since I would get to paint him black (sinister and dangeous) and also because of all the classic details you can fit onto these models. To emphasize the size of the marine I added lots of skulls to the base - these work as size markers as well as adding that particular 40K feeling. I wanted to go into detail both in regards to details and battle damage. Battle damage was made using both Vallejo liquid mask and simply by drilling these big round crevasses into the armour using a special drillbit with the point formed as a round ball. Finally I want to note that the Marine was created as a Hommage to John Blanche, whoose work has been a constant inspiration to me for more than a decade. Thanks!

9.5 No doubt that the winners were awesome and really well painted. But this one should have at least received a 3´d place, At Least!! Anyway really well painted miniature, and I just love the small (and big!) adjustments that makes my mind forget that this is sculpted over another model, this is is one of a kind. I love it!!
