Goodbye CMON :(

Sean;
I've been trying to get someone to pay attention to your state and help you seek the medication you need.

I know being Bi-Polar means intense swings in mood and sometime belief in persecution but you seem to be coming back to a less desperate state.
All the talking about hurting yourself or others is just the desparation of feeling attacked by the world and an angry guilt at being the victim yourself before.
You've talked about the abuse you've received but please understand You don't need to do the same, You can choose to be better than the people who inflicted their failures on you.

So please go see your doctor. They will know how best to get you the help you need, talk to the social services people they may be able to get you into a less stressful environment.

Mike.

Ive been reading this thread, and i dont really know what to say

I can appreciate and sympathise with your current situation, because ive been there (Glaswegian junkies as neihbours, etc..)

All i can say is that its EASILY possible to change your life, just fukng DO IT MAN!!! GET OUT OF IT!! GO AWAY!

Dont take the 'pussy' option (suicide) That would be an admission of defeat, and god loves a winner eh? (im not even fuking religious but i read that somewhere...)

YOU ARE A GOOD MAN! BELIEVE THIS AND YOU WILL OVERCOME!!

I know CMON is a great community, but I really don't think a mini painting forum is the best place to showcase someone having a minor breakdown. I also suspect Sean may not be grateful in the long run to have this as a permanent record of a bad phase in his life. Appropriate advice has been given and I feel that prolonging this thread serves no useful purpose, unless is anyone is a qualified psychiatric practitioner? And if anyone says yes, then I would suggest that they are struck off immediately...

I know this might be an unpopular opinion, but at least I feel it is a realistic one.

Although I think it's good that Montka feels he can let this out through this medium, and is not storing it all up inside.

This is public and anyone can come in and see it.

If the thread could be locked down to the mods only, he can still let his issues out, without everyone being able to view what is a private and sensitive subject.

Montka : We are with you man, but you may regret the publicity of this later down the line.

Before/if this thread does get locked (and I would understand if it did. Not sure what i would do if I was a mod), I just wanted to take this opportunity to say that I've been reading it but just didn't know what to say. Montka - I want you to know that you're really not alone. I have no experience of dealing with the kind of troubles you're having, and so i simply don't know what to say that could help you feel better about yourself and your situation. I think there are likely a number of people like me, who have been reading your posts and been feeling worried about you, but don't know how best to reassure you or advise you. You have a complex condition, but I am certain that the first step to recovery is to seek professional advice. What that means is, I really think you need to go see a doctor. Take that first step. Do it yourself. It won't immediately solve your problems, but it's the first step in the right direction.

Really, sincerely, good luck.

Yeah, a trip to the GP to start the ball rolling is in order. Not that they're all as aware of mental issues as they could be, but they are still a first step in getting forwarded to the right place. There's a counselling service a person can get referred to, or a therapy service. For me, with a rather chronic anxiety condition the counselling I got referred to was pleasent (an hour with someone focused all on me), nice but not terribly useful. The therapy system changed a while back and I've yet to try it myself (anxiety makes even a trip to the GP a problem, catch 22 eh).

That bi-polar manic depression is at least more understood these days. Stephen Fry, a sufferer, made a documentary on it a while back. Surprised me that many of the sufferers he spoke to wouldn't take an option to get rid of it entirely if they could, I guess the up-feeling is powerful. But medications fo exist to really get a grip on the down-swing feelings.

Best to avoid to avoid a few things though. Not sure what kind of damage the dodgy drugs would do the brain chemisty that are being played with by the manic-depression already. I've learnt that caffeine is even best avoided or at least cut down as it plays merry hell with ones serotonin levels. Switch from coffee to tea, or from coke to vimto.
Has to be a good idea to avoid harmful/negative people an all. That kinda person could well be like a dodgy drug, OK in small doses and in the right atmosphere but detrimental in the wrong atmosphere and mindset.

Good luck getting back on top of things. :glasses-cool:

I'm not going to argue with Finn17 or Spacemunkie, because I respect and accept what they are saying; I don't think this thread is the best thing in the world or the best thing that's ever happened to this community, And yes I do intend that it will be closed and archived off.

But for the moment, if posting here is stopping montka doing something irrevocable, then I'm willing to accept criticism for keeping the thread open.

And at Finn17, Thank F**k I'm not a Psychiatrist or a Psycologist, I don't have the mental fortitude for that kind of work.

I'm bloody glad I'm not one of them either...;)

No easy answer to this one Mike...just offering an alternative viewpoint...which I suspect may a few other people may have been thinking.

As one who has been through similar problems as montka I can say that discussion can be a great help. 'Sucking it up, stiff upper lip, holding it in' can be a real easy thing to gravitate towards with this kind of problem........it makes it much worse. To me, this thread has been real good. Seeing all the compassion is good for one to know. For me, it can translate into - I'm not a freak, I'm someone who is having a problem and there is hope and help out there.

I don't think anyone is suggesting he holds it in, simply that he talks to people who actually know what they are on about!! ie not the denizens of a mini forum, who are all a bit weird anyway!

Speak for yourself!!!!

On a serious note - totally agree with Shawn, talking about it is definately better than holding it in. Thats what I did when suffering with depression many moons ago, and at the time I wasn't really on the net at all so had no outlets. I definately do not recommend doing the stiff upper lip bit, although I made it in the end it was not a pleasant journey. It may not be to everyones liking, an open discussion on such a personal and important matter, but that is for montka to decide. If it helps its good. Montka - you know we are all here for you mate. Any professional help that is needed is cold help and it also needs to be supplemented by the support of friends and family, we're the warm help as it were.

Our normal does = weird in real life....

I have to say I agree with the others Monkta, go talk to someone, there is no shame in it, and it very well could change your life. You've nothing to lose by doing it.

Just had a read through, having been somewhat MIA and catching up with the vacant ponderings of our beloved denizens.
I have to agree that you should talk to someone about all this that's qualified in doing the listening/advice thing. I recall Sean having some severe problems with depressions made mention in the past on these forums too so one would assume he knows what he's talking about. You seem pretty happy to be able to throw it all out there and if it makes you feel lighter on that score then that's awesome, some pro help would seriously benefit your well being and help you take bearings on your standing in life. You're clearly not an unintelligent man so I hope you pay significant heed to those that wish you well, myself included, by saying that.

Hopefully when you get yourself sorted out, you'll be able to stand up and realise that you can take steps to change your life and throw it on the track you want it to take. And you *can*. There'll be a day, hopefully, when you can take all of this and throw it back in the face of anyone that's ever downed you, by coming out on top. King of the world, f*ck you very much, I WILL pass go, I WILL take my 200 bucks on the way past and head straight over to mayfair to snap that shit up and don't come knocking on my door.
That's up to you though. No one can make you do it, that's your call to make. You have to start at square one on the right road, but that road will go places.

All the very best, man. I mean it.
