Hi BAM,

I think another important factor is experimentation and being able to create your own style. One can always try to paint like someone else one admires but in the end it's still just a copy. I think that one can recognize a great artist by his own style, even if it's sometimes not 100 % tecnically correct. Just my two (euro)cents though.

Well you see, all we have to do is wait for Tero to dawn his super suit, then when he shrinks we capture him in a glass, once we have him in such a small form, with his small perfect hands mind you.....you see where I am going?

I did a search on micro painting today, let me say I saw some stuff from a Turkish painter I am literally a noob and he got a better suit then me, I saw one painting on a grain of rice! They use microscopes or something...

In agree ment with you Gino after all style came into fruition when I said hey .. What a neat way to cover a bad transition .. True story ... You guys know the rest from there ....BLOOD ...gore ... MUTILATION...dirt....GRIME (Rick grimes at that ) .... Tepees like an 80s grade b horror movie.., great great point Gino my main dude !!!

P.S. Feet are still damn hard to sculpt. So little miss I am working on will just have to be wearing kickass boots. True story.

LOL That sounds like a great idea.
Some illustrators just put their subject hands on the pockets to hide their most feared subject... hands. You'll do better on your next attempt for sure and if not, then it will be the following one.

I've been busy sculpting. I've decided to revisit my idea of a cat dragging home some horrible or mythical tentacled beastie for its humans. Only I decided to upscale the sculpt.

I also figured that working from some reference pics would be a good idea. I decided to make this little cat a British Shorthair. I've always liked the look of the breed and it fits the mental image I have. Here are some pics for those who may not know what I'm going on about:


The breed comes in a wide variety of coat colours and patterns, but I haven't made that choice yet. Trying to get the body right first. And I'm also thinking of sculpting some fur onto him.

Here's where I'm up to now. His raised leg still needs a lot of work and obviously the head is just a basic core at the moment. But I'm pretty happy with how it's going so far.


Apologies that I haven't been posting as many updates so far this year. University and sculpting are keeping me busy. And I'm not a particular fast sculptor so I'll keep updating progress when I have something to show. I really appreciate you all checking in here when I do post though. I really enjoy my online friends. :)

@Digga - Yup, mainly working with fingers to get the final smoothing done.

@bgcdazzler - The feet might be a bit big, but I'm waiting until I've gotten the rest of the body done before I consider carving them down.
