Very nice. The only critique i can add is the free hand gold on the bottom of the cloak (especially his left side), is a little shakey with variable width.

Extremely smooth blends on the clothes. Once i get a few hundred hours of paint time in i will have to try the two brush blending.

Oh, and i take back the shakey...i tried painting eyes last night :dazed: eyes must be why i switched to skeletons ;).

Voted...well done

Thanks for the comments people :)

Have done this little step by step guide for this great Ork. (most of it is a standard Eavy Metal paint guide)

1. Base coat knarloc green (thin layers)
2. Wash with dark flesh than scorch brown
3. Build up midtones with knarloc green
4. Start with highlights with 2:1 mix of knarloc green & vomit brown
5. Add bleach bone to that mix
6. Add vallejo ivory as extreme highlights (also added teeth, scab red for lips & eyes)

Cheers andy, do you think of gone over the top with the eyes ?
I reckon I need to make them a bit smaller and paint some lids on.
Suggestions ?

Personally, I like the eyes. Zooming in via the phone, it does look like some human wearing a mask, but that could just be on my viewing end.

Hey 10ball, I love the eyes lol. Not sure if it's what your after but to me it now looks like his lower lip his quivering now and his eyes are watering up about to ball, so much expression. It's quite comical when combined with the clasped hands and commissar uniform.

Not a fan of the big eyes, but i do agree with shakes that it definately makes him look like he is going to break down and start bawling.

I really like the step by step...i need to keep a notebook by my paint area to keep track of what i did for futur reference.

the skintone on the orc was really good, as pegazus says, it looks like a human wearing an orc mask a bit..
the yellowish around them makes this effect

anyways, just skimmed through your other stuff and I love your work.. will follow this!

Cheers for the comments.

Seeing AndyG has gone all old school I painting this little bugger (bugmans LOL) dwarf ranger from 1989. A real fav of mine. Pleased with his face - I painted him with a broken nose and along with his wooden leg / eye patch makes him a real hard knock dwarf :)

Had a mess around with trying to blend true metallics and the result im NOT happy with the axe blade at all, will repaint in NMM.

Looking good 10ball. I feel your pain on the true metals fella. Trick I have found is to go thin thin thin. Like almost glaze thin. That way you can really build up the layers. Mithril silver is the worst from GW range as the pigment is miles finer than the other 'silvers'.

loving the officer 10ball- very regal and haughty looking skin tone as befits and imperialcofficer ;-) and the blue has a great look to it- good stuff!
happy hobbying

Boubi glazing would seem to be the way to go methinks. I think your doing a grand job here do the whole regiment it will look pucka on a diorama.

I like the shirt and nose. Let's see...broken nose, missing eye, missing leg...if he was missing some fingers it would be perfect. :)

Thanks all :)

Repainted axe in NMM - looks loads better. True metallics are hard to control when you start messing with them, I find it hard to get a good finish.
