Quaircus I would love to do a pristine ornate temple so much however three things stop me. I'd have to sculpt it from scratch and if it was a new temple it would have to be spot on and I'm not that good. Second he's been molded with a rubble rock under his foot so this kind of nocks it a hit askew, third he is not that colourful and I think he would get lost a bit in the sumptuous surrounding.
I could be just using these reasons as an excuse because I'm daunted by the task to be fair.

Been thinking halfway house and incorporating some of the ideas a working temple so to speak but ancient and rubble strewn. Also with rust coloured dirt and some of the scibor miniature Buddha heads which I managed to dig up. Here's a pic from the late great Ray Harryhausen Golden voyage of sinbad. I think with lots of hard work I could do something vaguely like this.

*sigh* It's a shame they don't make films like that anymore I think something like this would look amazing with this particular piece: when I first saw it this is the kind of imagery I had in my head. Something about his pose perhaps? Assuming you want to sink the time into it I personally believe it would make an awesome display. But hey, it's your sanity!

Awesome mate, awesome. I still think more pinks/oranges are needed in places, esp. on the palms of the hands, knuckles, back of knees. You could also go darker on the deep shadows on the underside of the folds of skin.

bit more reds in there lee and there is loads of purple in the shadows but its not coming out in the pics for some reason. Got to do the free hand border on the lion cloth yet and still got the axe handle to do plus a bit of colours on the blade. Then the base Im looking forward to starting it!

Holy pacaderm! May just be the pics but be careful with the nmm and hide they might be starting to get close in terms of hue.

Yep the pinks should help with the skin not going to NMM.

Real top class painting mate, I reckon you can still shadow these parts more.

Yeah meaty and Zab got some glazes of gold (reflected from the helmet) and blue and brown to go on the axe head yet which should help differentiate the metal from skin further. Your not wrong Lee will do pronto. Also noticed something with the back join between the left arm and the back you can see some roughness from the superglue. Wouldn't normally have this but the thinness of the glazing has left it clearly there; I think I'm going to have to file it off and repaint that section. No point leaving it as this is going to be a competition piece.

Got to start thinking about the base and as this is going to be a major piece I thought Id try a concept drawing and see what people thought. I think I could manage this technically as I have some pre cast pieces I could incorporate into this; I've got resin and bunch of scibor ruined heads and some pillars and stone work p of p bits and bobs plus a load of bark. I like it but my only reservation is that it would block out some of your nice brushwork in the mini and possible overpower it a bit.

I love Sinbad! Also I really do like the Scibor heads. And actually all of his stuff is pretty cool, but I feel like I have seen a ton of scibor heads in the last couple of years. Maybe you could add a layer of fine sand to disguise them a little? I do like Ten-ball's last pic. And your drawing looks great with the banana leaves...

edit: Coconut fiber vines might be good. I believe the African Swallow migration is coming soon in your part of the world, so just keep a look out.

some freehand on the cloth? a Buddah perhaps... or am i mixing up the religions here lol

Finished the axe handle and the bracelets onto a bit of free hand on the cloth just the trim so far base has been selected and is under construction will post pics asap for that but heres some of the fig.

Great work on that ax. I would have gone for different colors for the bracelets, but that's just me.

I know it might be a pain but I reckon you need to put some pure white specks as glints in the eyes. Know you must have done it but they are not standing out enough. It will make a real difference and will make a focal point.

Well here you go Milosh the start of the base build. Started of with some hand carved plaster of Paris bits. Not so good as the plaster is very fragile which makes it crack but hey its supposed to be an ancient jungle temple so it kind of fits. Quite pleased with the result. The base of the pillars are supported with some hirst miniature field stones and then the cliff face is some bark and the sides some sculpted milliput not so sure about keeping the stonework might sculpt in some rock instead. Really worried about the plaster of Paris as it crumbles as soon look at it. Does anyone know a way of sealing it?
