Thanks Arch: you're probably right about the belt: I was aiming for cartoony but it does clash a bit.
Bit it of a change of tack:
I painted up the hamster because I missed painting after all that Sprogrot and base making. Now that I'm painting Pig and the base (no pictures yet...) I am missing sculpting! I'm so weird.
I will share progress on the base at some point over the next few days, but in the meantime here is a bit of a 'just for fun' sculpt. I got some Fimo for Christmas that is a nice Christmassy green - much easier to see the details compared to Sprogrot grey.
Step 1: a head, similar size to Sprogrot. Can you tell what it is yet?
Step 2: fancied making a smiley face. At this stage I was thinking it might become an evil clown, but I just wasn't getting it. All I knew was (sorry Digga) I wanted to sculpt something non-Orky.
Step 3: added some fat, wider cheeks. At this stage I realised he could become an Ork if I wasn't careful - the proportions are wrong. Needs more forehead to be humanoid.
step 4: added some more forehead to give him better proportions, and gave his teeth some shape in the mouth (they don't follow the lips to the corners, they should have their own independent shape).
Step 5: finally, I decide what he is going to be. A dwarf! A happy, manic, evil little dwarf. Here he is with the preliminary beard roughed in: there will need to be more volume on it to make it more 'real'.
right then: back to painting my base!
