bgcdazzler's first ever mini WIP (a confusion of cockups and learnings)

Clearly a robot witch in denial. Always happy to see that cheeky monster on my WIP too!

Quick update: not much going on here. Just basecoating all the other bits on Sprogrot. These likely won't be final colours, but I haven't decided what the final colours will be yet.

And the the lady so far. I'm getting to the point where I need to decide what she is...

More work for me on Sprogrot than expected. When I started cleaning him up I found his lowest armor plate on the back of his head missing. It is nearly completely gone which is why I didn't even notice it was missing on first sight. So something to keep in mind when casting the next time - this is a place where a venting hole clearly was needed. Since I have to rebuild this area anyway, I can add some putty into that huge gap on his neck to make painting more easy. :agent:

So many options to go for with your lady....

I'm a fan of steampunk as a look because it's quite fun. So how about a steampunk bounty hunter with a clockwork crossbow?

She has a bit of a pose that is typical of Brom's artwork. May want to do research looking at his stuff for some ideas. Steampunk would be great-bounty hunter, mad scientit, wicked nurse, etc...or post apocalyptic warrior.

Steampunk it is, then - or as close as I can figure it, anyway. I'll have to do some research into it (for once!).

Schwarz: yes, I didn't really think through the whole modelling to cast up process for Sprogrot, so there are definite issues with the resulting copies. Sorry about that (still, being free will hopefully make up for it!). I've certainly learned that lesson for future sculpts!

...or make stuff worth buying! :)

luckily I already have a stressful job that pays enough to keep me in Fimo, so I can keep my skills firmly in the 'amateur hobbyist' arena for years to come. Phew!

Dazzler, this is no big deal, please don't get me wrong on that. I did never expect perfect quality. I just wanted to point out hints for your next works. I will probably keep on doing this. I feel you are open to constructive criticism and clearly want to push your skills.

For the Lady: That creepy smile lends itself perfectly to a sadistic nurse. So one more vote on that theme. Steampunky big syringe with a mechanical dispensing mechanism in one hand perhaps? *shudder*

I love constructive criticism - it's the best part of this forum, so do keep it coming. I always appreciate advice and different perspectives. In fact that's why Sprogrot went out into the world; so I can see from experts and enthusiasts alike what works and where the issues are. Invaluable advice for the lowly cost of some resin and a few stamps!

the nurse is a good idea: but I worry the uniform might cover too much flesh (I'm making her for the flesh tone paintalong after all) I'll have a look-see tonight.

In that case druid warrior priestess. I believe they went to war naked. Read it in a fantasy book somewhere so it must be true :p

Thanks, BaM, and everyone for the suggestions. I'll put an update up in a bit.

In the meantime... 600 posts! The centuries are coming thick and fast these days, and I thank you all for your interest and input.

Zab once again took the winning post with Chuckles. It was tempting to draw a Squig, or even a naked Druid warrior priestess (gosh)...

...but in light of recent conversations it seemed only right to draw Zab's other fascination aside from beakies.

So, in celebration of post 600: this is for robot witches everywhere. :)

Ha: don't worry Zab; come the robot witch revolution I think you'll be safe.

Right then: legs. Holy bugger, I can see why sculptors like to do busts. Turns out legs are really really hard. Finally got the pose and proportions of the hips and thighs right (after much sculpting and whittling). The lower legs need more length but I haven't added it yet because I'm not sure what kind of boots or shoes a steampunk bounty hunter might wear this season.

Here we go:

she's getting a bit rude now, so I'm going to have to start putting clothes on her.

All comments welcome, as always.

Wow, the robot witch revolution has begun, and a lot quicker than I imagined too. Seems I need to up the time line for my plans.

This thread has suddenly become terrifying....

one more quick thing. Veerrry rough start, but some of her modesty has been redeemed by a tiny skirt.

There is something about the head that doesn't sit right with me. I have been trying to figure it out. I am wondering if its the chin. Maybe the lack of hair.

I know Exactly what you mean, Digga. I can't tell you how many times I've considered carving it off and redoing it.
I thinks it's a classic example of a pretty good face and a pretty good body, but the two don't marry up.
I'm going to do more of the body then try some hair - that'll make or break it I think.

I think the face is too large for the size of head which is what's throwing you off, if you reduce the features should solve the problem here's a dimensional picture to highlight what I mean

Also the ears are too low compared to the eyes at the moment, hope this helps
